Q. If I buy a property at a Tax Deed Sale, I know I am responsible for IRS Liens but what else am I responsible for?

A. In most states all other liens such as mortgages are wiped out. That is why most mortgage companies either escrow for taxes or subscribe to a tax service to notify them if taxes aren't paid. Most States are careful to notify the mortgage lender as well.

Counties and states may treat tax sales differently. Check with your local tax office or a local real estate attorney.
