Q. Does each county have its own preforeclosure mailing list, or is this a statewide process? I want to have access to these houses in my area, but I'm unsure whom I need to contact. Any help is appreciated.
A. Foreclosures are posted at the county level. They must be advertised in the public record for a period of time before they can be sold at auction. The advertisements are usually in the Public Notices section of your local legal announcements publication. There is probably a local newspaper in your area that advertises these properties. Call the newspapers in your area to find out which paper advertises Public Notices and ask them what days of the week the foreclosure notices are published.
