Q. Any tips/suggestions for dealing with severe pet stains/odors. In severe cases, does the underlying floor (entire floor or a section of) have to be removed? Is there a cost range estimate rule of thumb I can use to assess the repair cost to remediate pet stains/odors?

A. You should not have to remove the subfloor. You may have to remove carpet depending on age and other condition.

The best product that we have found to remove pet odor is UrineX. Most pet stores and carpet cleaning supply companies stock it.

You may also want to check with your local carpet cleaning company to see what options they may recommend. If it is just pet odors the costs should be minimal.
